The 2014 Corvette C7 - What we know, presented by Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC

Last updated 5 years ago

With all the hype circulating the Corvette C7 we've had a lot of people asking us what we know about the all new 7th generation Corvette. We don't know much since General Motors has kept it under tight lock and key, but here's everything that we know:

The C7 will feature a 6.2L LT1 as the base engine. Believe it or not, this larger engine posts better fuel economy numbers than its predecessors. Preliminary numbers show the C7 at 450HP. We also expect GM to add forced induction for models such as the Z06 and ZR1.

There will be loads of new features and technology. The C7 will feature track and go-fast performance applications including Rev Match, Performance Data Recorder and Engine Sound Management. So what exactly do all these features do? Engine Sound Management is accessed through the C7's touchscreen center stack that will literally allow the driver to set the note of the engine as heard in the cabin. Options to choose from include Auto, Stealth, City, Tour, Sport, Track and None. Active Rev Match  is available only on manual Corvettes. It assists the driver in smoother shifting by matching the engine speed to the next selected gear. It works by monitoring the operation of the shift level and the clutch, then adjusting the engine speed to match a calibrated value. On downshifts it increases engine speed before the clutch is engaged and on upshifts it decreases engine speed before the clutch is engaged. Performance Data Recorder will be an optional feature. If it's equipped it will be accessible via an icon on the touchscreen. Upon launch, it will record audio, video, and vehicle data that's stored on an SD Card. You will then be able to view it either inside the vehicle or on a computer.

And last, but not least...The Stingray Moniker is coming back as the base model name! This means that the Corvette will have a proper name, rather than a title like "Corvette Coupe". Names like Grand Sport, Z06 and ZR1 will live on through the life cycles of the C7.

That's absolutely everything we know about the C7, but if you still have some questions, give us a call at 330-SWEENEY or email us at and we'll be more than happy to try to answer them! Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC has one of the largest selections of Corvette's in the area, so make sure that you get your new C7 from Youngstown's Corvette Authority!
