Chevrolet does its part to provide relief to Hurricane Sandy

Last updated 5 years ago

Today Chevrolet donated 50 Silverado pickup trucks and Express cargo vans to the American Red Cross to be used in relief and recovery efforts following Hurricane Sandy.

OnStar also stepped up and is supporting the initiative by providing each of the vehicles with 300 OnStar minutes and three months of directions and connections. These trucks are being taken from the inventory of Chevrolet dealerships closest to the areas that they are needed.

In addition to this donation, the GM Foundation donated $250,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Responder Program which will enable the agency to be ready to provide immediate disaster relief anywhere else in the country. It will be used to shelter, feed and meet emotional needs of disaster victims. It will also help feed the emergency workers.

Neal Litvack, Chief Development Officer of the Red Cross had this to say: "The impact of Hurricane Sandy is being assessed up and down the East Coast and even further west, and the road to recovery will be long for many families. GM's generous donation of vehicles and finances will help the American Red Cross to respond with shelter, food and care, aiding affected residents now and after the storm, as they move toward recovery".
