The Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday that it will be recalling 778,000 RAV4 SUVs and Lexus HS 250H sedans in the US to fix a suspension problem causing crashes. Toyota reports that rear suspension nuts aren't tightened properly after a wheel alignment the arms will rust and separate from the vehicle.
There have been nine crashes and three minor injuries from this problem.
They have recalled all RAV4s from 2006-2011 and 250Hs from 2010.
This comes as a result of an investigation launched by The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration when they got several reports from drivers, including one who reported swerving over four lanes of an interstate when the suspension arm disconnected.
At this time Toyota has no plan to fix the problem and will notify owners by mail when they have.
RAV drivers should also know that there is still an investigation into door fires that is still ongoing.
