Did you know that not only is the Lordstown built Chevy Cruze road tested (making it perfect for our sometimes rough roads) but it is also weather tested! In a state where we can sometimes get all 4 seasons in one day, it's great to know that the car can withstand it.
So how many gallons of water do you think that your car can withstand? How about 6,600? At Chevy, engineers made sure that the car can withstand anything from heat to hurricanes! Using 330 nozzles, 825 gallons of water are sprayed onto the car each minute. The intensity of the test exposes weaknesses in the car's seals, which experts can then resolve to ensure drivers and passengers stay dry in a rainstorm.
The Cruze is also tested in GM's Climatic Wind Tunnel, which replicates hurricane-force winds. The cars will also then be driven through up to one foot of water in the Flooded Road Lab to eliminate any leaks to the engine compartment or doors. The Cruze is also tested in the Thermal Chamber, where it is exposed from conditions ranging from arctic cold to desert heat.
Beyond being tested like this, the Cruze is equipped with numerous safety features, including StabiliTrak, 10 standard airbags and OnStar.
