When a new generation of the GMC Sierra is made it will have over 300,000 miles on it in hauling, towing use and abuse.
Meet Tammie Roeber, Dave Cleveland and Don Impson. Together their trucks have more than 2,000,000 miles and represent more than 25 years of proof that GMC is professional grade.
Tammie Roeber signed the papers on a brand new Sierra 3500HD in 2006, hitched up a trailer and have been on the road since. Roeber has put more than 1.2 million miles on the ORIGINAL engine and transmission.
"I had two Ford pickups prior to owning my GMC, but I was replacing a transmission every year. If that rate continued, I'd be through my sixth transmission with the miles I've put on that Sierra." Said Roeber. In addition to the fact that she has over a million miles on her truck, most of these miles were spent pulling a 48 foot, 16,000 pound trailer holding as many as nine horses.
This is Don Impson, a semi-retired vet from Arkansas. He has stretched his miles out further than over 520,000 miles - mostly by making farm visits tending to animals in a three-county area around his home. He purchased his GMC in 1986. He bought his GMC in 1986, buying another in 1995 he bought a 3/4-ton pickup thinking his was going to quit, but, he couldn't have been more wrong. The 1995 has primarily sat, because the 1986 still runs like new!
Lastly, this is Dave Cleveland. He uses his '02 Sierra 1500 to travel from his house in Chicago to trade shows in Florida and Colorado. Between these travels and his actual 60-mile commute to and from work, he's put over 420,000 miles on in the past 10 years. Cleveland still has the original transmission and engine. In fact, other than changing the rear pinion gear, and regular oil changes, he has never done anything to the truck!
