Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC strives to be your source for automotive industry news. That's why we try hard to be the first place the valley goes to find answers. Take at the story below about Detroit's problems, and how GM CEO Daniel Akerson wants the company to be part of the solution.
The city of Detroit has been financially challenged for quite sometime. In fact, it has gotten to the point that the state of Michigan is expected to appoint an emergency financial manager. Despite the problems that Detroit is having, Akerson isn't scared to live within the city, where he has a home. However, with the city being on the brink of running out of money as early as May, few people share Akerson's sentiments.
Akerson wants GM to be part of the solution to Detroit's problems. He and his wife have both taken a personal interest in the revitalization of the city. As you may remember, Akerson and his wife made a personal donation to the city of $1,000,000.00 to be used by Habitat For Humanity within Detroit.
In a recent interview, Akerson didn't offer an opinion on how to fix the city, but he did say "I'd rather have my problems than the mayor's."
What do you think is the solution to Detroit's problems?
