Corvette is the world's best selling luxury sports car and this past weekend another accolade was added to the name plate's long list. The Corvette was inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame, that is: The hall of fame for American Le Mans Series.
?Since the Corvette's first race in the series back in 1956, over 230 Corvettes have competed in the race with 24 of them bringing class or category victories, and 7 of the overall victories being Corvette. In fact, on Sunday a Corvette placed second and third within the GT Class in the 60th Anniversary Race.
Russ Clark, Chevrolet's Marketing Director for Performance Cars had this to say about the Corvette: "Even more important than the awards and the race wins are the benefits to the production vehicles as a result of our racing programs. We have been successful at transferring racing technology to the street, especially in our high-performance vehicles such as the Corvette ZR1, Z06 and our carbon fiber models, including aerodynamic, powertrain, chassis, braking, safety and design features"
