Since the Detroit Auto Show, quite a few people have been asking about the Buick Encore. Until recently, there really were no definitive answers. In fact, until it was unveiled in January, nobody had seen anything other than a computer rendering. Well, this past weekend in Cleveland, we got a very special sneak peak at the all new Encore that we are proud to bring to you.
"The Buick Encore is a great-looking, smart choice for those who want luxury crossover amenities in a more maneuverable and agile vehicle. It represents a luxury alternative for a new audience of Buick customers, and delivers features and flexibility not typically found in vehicles of its size today." said Tony DiSalle, US VP of Buick Marketing.
Here's a little bit about what you can expect from the 2013 Encore. You can expect to seat up to 5 passengers while still having over 48 cubic feet of storage space. You can also expect a higher driving position that most other crossovers. The encore will feature a 1.4L turbo four cylinder engine with a 6 speed automatic transmission with an available all wheel drive option.
Where the Encore really separates itself from the crossover pack is the interior. The highlight of the interior is IntelliLink, a new technology from Buick which acts as an extension of your smart phone. It can be controlled manually from the screen, from the steering wheel controls or through voice commands. IntelliLink is compatible with Stitcher Smart Radio as well as Pandora, among many other features. This is all displayed on a 7 inch LCD Touch Screen. Here's a short list of some of the other available and standard features:
- Remote Start
- Dual-Zone automatic climate control
- Rainsense wipers
- Bose premium sound system
- Heated, leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls
- Six-way, power-adjustable drivers seat with power lumbar adjustment and driver memory.
Take a look at the pictures below for a better look at why people are calling this car a work of art!
Encore is also the first car in the GM line to feature active noise cancelling. There are two microphones that are mounted to the ceiling which detect engine noise, and then sends a noise cancelling sound through the speakers to essentially eliminate any and all engine noise. In addition, the Encore also features the rest of Buick's QuietTuning technology, making this the quietest crossover on the road.
Now that we know how luxurious, let's talk about how safe it is. Encore is going to come standard with 10 air bags (driver/passenger front, driver/passenger knee, front and rear thorax and side curtain front and rear) in addition to StabiliTrak, 4 wheel disc brakes with ABS and electronic brake force distribution. Going deeper, Encore also comes with Cornering Brake Control and Brake Assist. That's not enough? Let's talk about Encores radar-based technologies. The Encore is available with forward collision alert, which will tell you when you are getting too close to an object. Also on the Encore is lane departure warning, a technology which alerts you when you are leaving your lane without signal. Take a look at what MyRide.com had to say about this technology.
Just incase that wasn't enough for you, here's a few more safety features available for the Encore:
- Front and rear park assist
- Available rear vision camera
- Just incase you do get into an accident Encore comes with Advanced Crash Response System, and emergency assistance.
