Changing it Up with the 2012 Chevy Avalanche

Last updated 5 years ago

It’s often said that there’s a car out there for everyone. But a single car can’t always fit the needs of a family or even an individual buyer. Fortunately, General Motors has recognized that dilemma and provided an answer: the Chevrolet Avalanche. It’s a one-of-a-kind vehicle that doubles as a practical four-wheel pickup truck and a graceful full-size SUV.

For 2012, the Avalanche has been given a glistening new look, thanks to a coating of Silver Ice Metallic paint. The Chevy Avalanche’s other attributes for the new year include:

Diverse Capabilities

No other vehicle on the market can transform itself from an SUV to a pickup truck in less time than it takes most people to buckle their safety belts. All you have to do to take advantage of the trunk’s 45.5 cubic feet of cargo space is fold the rear seats forward and lower the Midgate®. Best of all, the Avalanche in pickup mode retains all the comfort and style of the Avalanche in SUV mode.

Luxurious Interior Features

The 2012 Avalanche doesn’t skimp on passenger—and driver—comfort. Manual dual-zone climate control is standard for the base trim, with automatic in the midrange LT and premium LTZ. With the LT trim, the Avalanche comes with leather front seats; with LTZ, you get a heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats.

Strong Performance Value

A 5.3-liter V8 engine is standard for all trims, getting 320 hp and 335 lb. ft. of torque. All trims also get six-speed automatic transmission, and boast an impressive towing capacity of 8,100 lbs. This powerful vehicle still gets 21 mpg on the highway.
