NHTSA Announces it will close investigation into Volt

Last updated 5 years ago

We wanted to share some information with you regarding the Chevrolet Volt and recent news.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that it has officially close its investigation into the post crash fires involving the battery inside of the Chevy Volt.

The NHTSA will be closing this investigation because it is satisfied with the results of internal tests and assessments done by General Motors engineers. GM Announced on January 5th, 2012 that it will provide additional protection for the battery minimizing post crash fires.

This was a voluntary action by GM to make the Volt even safer. The Volt has always been safe, so much in fact that not only is it a top safety pick but it also received a 5 star rating from NHTSA's new car assessment program.

GM Customer Satisfaction will be contacting all Volt owners regarding this, or owners can contact 877-4-VOLT-INFO (or by email at volda101@gmexpert.com). Dealerships will get the parts to do the modification sometime in February and it is expected that the modification could take a day or more. This will be provided at NO COST to the customer.
